nothing new...i mean exciting...to report. i did have 8 hours of contractions from saturday night till sunday morning at 4am. the last 3 hours, they were 4-6 minutes apart. we got a little nervous, after getting excited that this could actually be IT...called the hospital...and BAM...bubble was burst. they said "we will send you home, it's your first child". so guess what, baby heard that and decided to stop trying. the contractions stopped an hour or so later.
i get them every now and then, but i think the little man's feelings were really hurt. i have been trying to tell him how wonderful he is and that he will like making friends out here in the big big world. it might be a little chilly because it is winter, but i have the cutest little bundle up one piece coat thing for him to wear. he hears me...i know it :)
tomorrow is a full moon...that will be the day! :) wishful thinking...but it keeps me away from thinking of my 38 extra pounds.
well...off to the dr soon. he is my new bff...i see him so often! we chat about running, food and babies :)

ready to go...but baby hasn't gotten the memo...
i am ready...more than ready. not sure why baby hasn't gotten that memo yet.
the nursery is done! yay! thanks to my parents and sister for coming up a few weekends ago and helping finish everything. us gals made the curtains while the boys did boy stuff (putting together things and building a new laundry room - which is WONDERFUL by the way). pics of the nursery are below. we have yet to put up the maternity pics we got in the nursery, but need to wait on that since the collage of pics has his name. it's still a secret....
so i am sure all men of pregnant wives make comments they shouldn't and forget about using their "filter" first. here are a few in our home that will forever go down in the baby book...enjoy. :) i am sure someday i will laugh at them too...today is not that day. i really am over it that he forgot to use his filter, but i have to tease him about something...if that's the worst he feels, then i am sure he can handle it :) at least he didn't have to gain 35+ pounds!

shelves, drawers and stories
as always, it is busy in the palmer household. preparing for a new child is like doubling all of your possessions! we have found room for everything though :)
the nursery is all set up - we have the first sheets for the changing table and bed all washed and waiting to be put on the mattresses. we aren't putting them on yet, because i don't want el bambino to sleep on a sheet that is anything less than freshly clean!
the closet in the nursery is finally done...well...it should be at least. i don't like the $2 clearance baskets we got at macy's anymore. i hope another child will like them. we are taking them to once upon a child, so then i will just need new baskets. the dresser is in the closet since his little clothes take up about 10 inches of space. so adorable. his tiny socks could all fit in my cereal bowl! not sure why i compared them to a cereal bowl...but i guess i am hungry. it's lunch time!
we made room in the guest bathroom (also daddy's bathroom) for the little man. he has 3 drawers for all his bath time fun belongings! the kitchen has been rearrange so he has 3 shelves for the bottles, bowls, etc. it's fun :) can't wait for him to just get here now.
just in case he decides to make his arrival before Christmas, we also got a newborn first Christmas outfit :) it is so soft and cute.
our maternity photography session is BOOKED! excited to get pictures, but also not so excited. i am in the phase where the pants that should fit...with the elastic waist...don't so much fit anymore. shirts don't reach down to the other side of my belly. sweatshirts even fail me these days. and i just look tired. i need my hair cut. my finger nails grow way too fast and i tend to forget where i place the nail clippers. sitting, standing and walking are all not comfortable. my cankles (calf-ankles...can't tell the difference anymore) seem to squeeze into my socks each day and leave lines on my legs in the evenings to remind me just how big they are. i need to figure out outfits to wear for the photo session. it sounded so great, until it was actually booked. now i must prepare!
story time - i had a client call me today just to talk about how i was doing (and she just likes to chat). it was nice to know it wasn't about a project...or so i thought. here was the conversation...(my thoughts are in brackets)
"hey lindsey - how's it going?"
oh i am good. how are you?
"i am really good. just ran a half marathon this last weekend [thanks for telling me that because i only dream about running or even walking sometimes]"
exciting. i hope you did well and had fun.
"yeah, it was my first, so it was a lot of fun. so i feel like you have been pregnant forever".
yup, i feel the same way...it's about over though.
"how much time are you taking off?"
i plan to take 12 weeks off work, then i will be back.
"nice. i want to have a kid just so i get 12 weeks of vacation [hmm...vacation...is that what we call a million hours of labor, poopy diapers, crying baby, no sleep, no showers, meals from the freezer...]"
...and on went the conversation...but as you can see, she clearly doesn't have children so probably would have rather discussed a project by that point.

week 29 and baby's nose
thanks to babies r us, we had a wonderful saturday evening of shopping for nursery must-haves (or maybe they should be thanking us...) :)
we picked out our nursery "rocking" chair - finally. it is so comfortable. it looks like a lazy boy recliner, yet is a rocker chair. wonderful. it will be delivered in a few weeks. we got a color based on a 4x4 inch swatch, so i hope i like it....fingers crossed!
baby now has a mattress for the crib (that isn't set up). so he will be comfey cozy one of these days in his room :) my oh my, could you get talked into a $300 all organic mattress that could basically do everything EXCEPT change diapers, clean the nursery, do laundry, fold clothes, feed baby, do dishes...you get the idea! pretty much just for sleeping...we went with a "non" organic mattress. i think we are still good parents... :)
we had the exciting 3D ultrasound today...it was exciting. i will post pics of that later. i need to download them to my computer yet. it was fun. babes decided to keep his hand in front of his face (or in his mouth) a lot of the time, but we still got some good pics. he has chubby cheeks and super cute lips :)
the first thing we saw though...his nose. it was large. suck out like a pinocchio nose. the ultrasound tech reminded me that it was just the angle. it didn't look so bad (actually was sooo cute in the other angles). HOWEVER...i sent a few of the black and white pics to my sister...of course...what does she comment on...."the nose looks like yours!". thanks sissy. i hope you were looking at the "good angle" pictures :) i think we are even more excited now (if that is possible) to meet the little man...he looked ready to meet me. i will post a few of the black and white, non 3D pics below.
week 29 stats...
weight gained: 22lbs (eeks!) i have realized it is a bad idea to look at pics from before pregnancy to now...i didn't think my face looked bigger...so much for that...it does...thanks to digital cameras it is way too easy to look at the past.
food: english muffins with jelly and pb...especially at 3am (john loves it) :)
mood: still john's favorite person to be around!! i am as happy as they come in the 3rd trimester!! i am tired a lot now...and my back is starting to hurt...
picture time! you will have to excuse the quality of the black and white ones - they were picturesof the print outs we got :)
the little guy looking as peaceful as ever...however...this was truly NOT the case! he was moving all over.

I just had to share that I tried red velvet cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory this weekend. it is the BESTEST cheesecake I have EVER tasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I made it last 2 days also :)

nursery, birth class & growing!
so i realized today that i haven't written on my blog in a while...didn't realize almost a MONTH has passed. oh well, better late then never.
i don't have any pictures this week, but maybe that is for the best :) my belly continues to grow and the scale continues to go up,up,up! just means baby is healthy, right?? :)
well this week has been another fun one! getting the dreaded fall cold that every other person seems to get this time of year. oh well, baby and i will fight it off!
OH YES - how could i forget this??? we started our birth classes last week. they are every tuesday evening for about 2.5 hours of fun filled excitement discussing and watching births (from many angles...), placentas, drugs, relaxation, etc. good times. we actually really do like our class. our teacher is a bit anti drugs, which i am all about, when not pregnant. however, if i have to deliver a watermelon sized baby, drugs will be my bestest friend!! next week's class - tour of the labor & delivery floor. very excited to see the extra wide beds, birthing balls, large bathtubs and showers, bed bar (whatever that is), in stock games, movies, etc. :) priorities you know...
mr hicks (formerly known as braxton hicks) decides to visit me at least once a day. his arrival is always unannounced and not received well on my end. i usually have to stop whatever i am doing, although, usually just laying on the couch, and focus on him. john scrambles to get the note pad and pen so we can start our process of "charting". he will have this down in about 12 weeks! :)
the nursery...neatly packaged boxes, paint cloths, paint brushes, clean paint cans....getting some hints??? hasn't been touched in a few weeks. the longer it is not painted, the more i change my mind on the paint scheme for the room. i think i am set now though...navy blue, light blue, greyish and yellow. one of these days it WILL get painted by my hubs. until then...it will remain as the empty room that looks like it has a purpose. it will be fun to set up the crib, changing table, hang little bitty boy clothes on little bitty hangers, organize diapers, bottles of johnson & johnson, perfectly arrange stuffed animals, make sure the crib sheets are on tight enough, hang wall decorations, etc.... the list goes on :)

lessons from grammie & week 24
week 24 is upon us! over the half way point and excited :) i am in the "teens" for the weeks left. it will go fast...and it better. the scale might not hold me anymore :)
anyway, we can get back to week 24 stuff later. today is a SPECIAL day! it is my grandma manske's birthday! she is no longer with us in person, but always with us in our hearts!! her little "sayings" are frequently brought up and everyone around cannot help but smile!
i have been thinking about what my soon to be son (in ~15 weeks) would learn from my grandma. although, between you 'n me, he is going to have WONDERFUL grandmas and role models that he will learn SOOOO much from (we have named my mamma "gg" already...for gma georiga...). i just hope he will like me as much as gg... :)
my son would learn...

- how to sit quietly and listen to a story that he has already heard 100 times...but since gma is telling it...it never gets old! oh the good 'ol days (i still think they appreciated life more than we do today)
- to love a brand new pack of colored socks for your birthday, christmas, other people's birthdays (since everyone had to open a gift), valentines day, easter, etc...
- unconditional love.
- humming a tune (even when no one recognizes it) can still soothe the soul and make the worries disappear
- that "ty-nol will cure what's pain-in ya"
- always put others ahead of yourself
- call the people he loves just to make sure they are doing well
- to love COUPONS! (pretty sure that still won't be a problem...i am addicted to coupons...)
- the huskers are the only football team to love
- hard work pays off

- to love growing tomatoes and all types of flowers...especially pink ones (for his mamma of course)
- to hang the washing outside on a clothes line so they smell like fresh air
- there is no need to drive too fast down the road (he will not speed...oh boy...he won't ever be able to drive or date for that matter...)
- how to successfully make poached eggs
- always watch people drive away and wave until you can't see them anymore
- never let people try to make your decisions or tell you what to do
- to correctly use the phrase "wow-wiee!!!", when excited for others
- to clip out the "family circle" comics (i got so many of these in college from gma that i actually made a border around my dorm room of family circus clippings...no one else could say that :))
- sitting quietly (without the modern day electronics) can really be relaxing
- always carry a spare cough drop
- read before going to bed
- most of all...my son will learn God is the most important person in his life. a close second is family. the rest will fall into place.
the list could go on and on. i love thinking about how much my grandma has influenced my life! she was a truly wonderful person and he will know who she is by the memories we share. :) this blog is pink today because that was my gma's FAVORITE color...and mine!!! :) i am even wearing a coral shade of pink today...hard to find cute maternity clothes that aren't grey, black, white or plum colored.

Week 24.
my thoughts...large.larger.hungry.tired.ribshurt.sleep.hungry.bodypillow.ketchup.NNEDfeetupeverywhere.water.nurserypaint.orderbabyfurniture.organizeentirehouse... that's just a start, but i won't continue to bore you. :) i frequently think about having our little guy at home! it will be soooo much fun! even the sleepless nights (remind me i said this in the middle of those nights...), fussy baby times and SMELLY diaper changes.
i still have no idea what i will do as a mom. i hope it just all instantly comes to me...BEFORE mr babes arrives! and my mamma will be around. i am convincing her that it really is ok to stay with me for 3+ months. she can have the basement AND my gardens (they only look the way they do because of her). :)
my dr appt yesterday showed everything was on track! this little guy is busy punching me (getting stronger), turning in circles (testing his equilibrium) and expanding my small maternity wardrobe (gaining weight).
this maybe the last time i share the weight gained...i was honestly shocked. don't get me wrong, i feel like a mansion. but the new weight gain of the week (or should i say HOUR) is 17 lbs (that is 7lbs more than last appt). where does all of that go??? how in the WORLD did i gain it sooooo fast!!!??? i don't think the little guy is even 2lbs yet! that means, being generous, i have 15 lbs stored somewhere on me. crazy thought. maybe my hubby is being nice and switched out all the mirrors in the house so i see a not so large version of me. :)

week 23...where has time gone?!?!
hello all! we have been a busy little family getting ready for our little addition. here is a recap of the last few weeks.
well at week 23, i am starting to realize that bending over is not the same. it's more of a side lean bracing myself on anything around to help steady my way to the ground. quite the site i would imagine. it is fun though...knowing it is not going to last forever :)
weight gained: 10 lbs (next appt is in 1 week...we will see how much the little guy...errr mamma...has gained)
cravings: anything with KETCHUP...love it and realizing is it truly a versatile condiment.
funny comments: this last weekend, a friend kindly said "wow you have popped!". thank you...i think...

- tape off the nursery so john can paint - i need to do this yet - but i have decided on the paint. blue for the walls with 3 different widths of horizontal grey stripes. let's hope it looks as cute in real life as it does in my mamma mind.
- move office stuff to new office.
- clean garage.
- football game...yay...they won! :)
- rest...or at least try to.
- enjoy the labor day off together :)
- lay on couch and drink lots of water so the braxton hicks contractions go away...and stay away...

...that about does it. we have been busy, but it has been fun. once the nursery is set up, then i will post pics :)
well at week 23, i am starting to realize that bending over is not the same. it's more of a side lean bracing myself on anything around to help steady my way to the ground. quite the site i would imagine. it is fun though...knowing it is not going to last forever :)
weight gained: 10 lbs (next appt is in 1 week...we will see how much the little guy...errr mamma...has gained)
cravings: anything with KETCHUP...love it and realizing is it truly a versatile condiment.
funny comments: this last weekend, a friend kindly said "wow you have popped!". thank you...i think...

little guy stuff. it's cute.
happy friday!!! that is so nice to hear :) i love friday's...they mean freedom for 2 weeks...usually...if client's don't call or email in a panic over the weekend.
this weekend i plan to finish working on baby b's blankie. john and i went to jo-ann fabric and picked out fleece, ribbon, cotton and batting (the stuff between blankets) last week. after discussing with the fabric cutting lady for about 30 minutes, we finally decided on the size to make this thing. that was quite the decision! ...umm...maybe i shouldn't admit that. anyway, i have constructed the entire blanket and L-O-V-E it :) i am really getting into this whole boy thing. it is an experience, but the planes, trains and trucks are really growing on me...i call them "cute" now when i see them on clothes. dianosours and bugs...still getting used to that one.
ok, back to the blanket. so here is my weekend plans...sew this thing so the loopy ribbons don't fall out :) below is a picture of the blanket on each side - the printed side is fleece and the other is a cotton grey. so cuddly. just waiting for a little boy.
also, baby GAP has made me really love shopping for this child. their clearance is the best...check it out. we got some clothes for the little guy. some of my fav's are below. cute little ittby sandals and slip on shoes and a sweatshirt. i think all 4 pairs of shoes would fit in 1 of mine. how cute. can't help but smile :)

frogs...trucks...sports...
this last weekend was life changing...literally! :) the 20 week ultrasound went perfectly. the cake revealing was wonderful (and delicious cake!!). the cake was......
BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!! baby boy!!!!!!!!! :)
my new due date is dec 31st. very excited...maybe this year yet we can meet the little guy. after we had the wonderful cake with wonderful friends and family, it was time to go shopping! my sisters, mom, john and i were off to Target! we each picked out an outfit and then found another outfit we could not resist. :)
i am still trying to figure out color schemes and themes for the nursery...but i figure i have a little bit of time.
baby stats:
fruit-a-like: banana (lenth of babes)
weight gained: 10 lbs...i might need to end this one at some point...
cravings: anything cherry flavored...i think DQ knows my car when i pull up...i always order a cherry artic rush...yummmm!
mood: getting back to the tired stage...but so excited to plan the nursery and SHOP! :)
baby weight: 11oz (as of last friday....so probably a pop can by now)

a day of "firsts" - part 2
part 1 is the post below this post...i couldn't upload 2 images for some strange reason. so here goes with my BIG day of "firsts"....
up to this point, we have not shared any pictures beyond text messages to friends and family of mamma and lil' babes. well that is all about to change!!! here is the first picture of lil' babes. since you can't read my shirt, it says "creating a bright future"....awww....doesn't that make you love baby p even more?!?! :)
here is week 19 at its finest....except the rainy day in the background. babes doesn't mind though.
...dare i admit this...i must...i laughed (just slightly). so much for needing part 1 and part 2. i couldn't get an image to upload on this post either. then, i look at the taskbar on the bottom of my screen, there it is...the "upload image" box. sitting there for me since part 1. seriously. whatever, this is written and not re-doing it now! :)
not sure why my back looks so curved...but my "dunn" is really making its presence known also. for those outside our Dunn family....the "dunn" is the rump.behind.backend.junk-in-the-trunk. now you know our secret...

a day of "firsts" - part 1
today is a BIG day. we made our first purchase for baby p. (actually we made it last night at like 10:30pm, but still). even though the whole stroller/car seat process was a bit overwhelming this weekend, we have done our research ahead of time and knew exactly what brand we wanted. britax or chicco. either of those brands had very similar looking "travel systems" (am i using the right lingo??? :)). they were red and grey...very universal for future children.
anyway, one of them went on closeout last night...AHHHH...PANIC!!! we went from overwhelmed-i-can't-decide to we-wanted-it-and-now-must-buy-it mode. of course we sat down for 2 hours and did more research to be 100% sure it is what we truly wanted (and what baby p wanted). this whole process started online at about 7:30pm and didn't end until 10:30pm...call us crazy...but i just know EVERY purchase for lil' babes can't take us 3 hours!!!!
we got free shipping - which means 2 days i guess - so the "travel system" gets here on Wednesday by 8pm. E X C I T E D. maybe this is just the inspiration we needed to make the rest of the decisions...for starters...which room are we going to use as the nursery...hmm...

babies 'r us & week 19
hello all my friends! i feel like i need to re-introduce myself as it has been so long since i wrote.
john and i had a fun adventure this weekend. we decided to head to babies 'r us on saturday. off topic...but this is why we went...this past weekend was my last "real" weekend with my hubs for about 4 months. we are entering football season. it is an entire season of its own. it doesn't share with fall. it is just football. he coaches at Crown College, so it is non stop from here till nov!
anyway, back to babies 'r us... we walk in, all excited to see cribs, strollers, car seats, etc. we start down aisle 1 (after making our way through the adorable clothes). so many cribs, dressers, changing tables and rockers. my oh my those prices! we will look past those for now and enjoy this. off to strollers, which spanned about 4 aisles. do we get one with a car seat or without? we tried for about 10 minutes getting the car seat off one of the strollers to see what it looked like without it, but we gave up after several looonnngg stares from passer-byers. we decided to look at the separate strollers and car seats (another 2 aisles). too many to look at....starting to go crazy.
off to the other 12 bazillion aisles with the "must-haves" that every good parent gets! we were not even half way down the first aisle, which contained bottles and baby video monitors, and john stopped. turned back around and said, "we need to leave. i am overwhelmed. we need something from every aisle!". guess those "good" parents have a lot more patience than we do right now. i promise we will buy so many unnecessary little trinkets, warmers and cushions for our child...but this was not the weekend.
so, back to the ever so cute baby clothes...it eased our minds and were fun to look at. we picked out the "come home from hospital" outfits if baby is a girl or a boy. john picked out some rather adorable girls clothes with pink, frills, rhinestones and sparklies. i was a proud mamma....if this is a girl :)
we decided no more shopping until we know the gender of our baby. more so it is an excuse, but it is really a lot to take in.
11 days...then we will know boy or girl! can't wait!! :)

Baby Size: 6-7 inches (think of a half of Subway sub...)
Cravings: food. food makes me hungry. i like cheetos. a lot.
Weight Gained: 6lbs (as of a week ago...we don't own a scale at home)

can't we just leave it??!!??...
hello friends. hope you had a wonderful weekend. mine was fun filled, seeing friends, bbq, birthday party....oh wait...it was SUPPOSED to be...until my appendix decided it needed outta my body on friday! grrr...
i went to the dr friday at 1pm cuz my side was sore...i could still function. dr looked at me for about 10 min, sent me to get an ultrasound, 1:30pm...dr slowly walks back in..."yeah, it's not good...you have appendicitis and need to get it out tonight. let me find a surgeon".
wait...WHAT...MINE?....my actual response "can't we just leave it till january?"..."nope it needs out now"..."what can i do between now and the hospital that will heal it??"...."nothing". bummer. so off we went. hospital for surgery.
had surgery in the evening. spent friday and saturday night at the hospital and came home today. crazy crazy crazy.
baby is great. at least my appendix thought of the health of my child...2nd trimester is the most ideal to have surgery...if it is needed. still, just a small thanks for that appendix. we truly aren't friends anymore.
so that anticipated, super fun weekend i had planned...down the drain! i spent it with surgeons, dr's, nurses, hospital food, a lovely hospital gown (and robe...ssswwweeeeettt!!), tons of apple juice....and my wonderful hubby! :)
my dr said this pregnancy needs to be boring from here on out. i can handle that.
since i am keeping stats for my child...here is a new one.

this is a great week....i eat TONS of lemons now and bebe is a lemon. how perfect. fresh squeezed lemons in a glass of ice cold water. wonderful. :)

mood: i think i am getting over the "morning" sickness (which should really be called "alldayterribleheadache" sickness). i get tired of people's moods. i get tired of feeling natious, but always hungry. i am tired. all good signs :)
belly: yup! hard to hide bp anymore...that's ok :) i am growing fond of my stretchy waist pants.
weight gained: last the dr told me, zilch! nada! zero!....but i have a hard time believing that when my pants don't fit.
not sure what else i could report.
FYI - do not google "peaches". i did at work today and i did not realize there were other "peaches" out there besides fruit...

5 hour wait
last week was quite the week...it went something like this.
sunday - church, then was sick
monday - figured out i had the stomach flu
tuesday - flu...stayed in bed till 12:45
wednesday - flu...went to dr...went home to lay back down...sick all day...go to ER...5 hour wait...WHAT...yes, 5 hour wait...my dr was able to get me to labor & delivery...wonderful people...wonderful fluids and drugs
thursday - feeling better...mamma came to visit!!! :)...feeling much better
friday - feeling lots better...gardened all day with mamma...my gardens thank her for coming
saturday - grad party...massages...movie night
sunday - john's birthday (happy birthday!!)...cirque de solei show
...so back to the 5 hour wait. it was a bit insane (understatement). the nurse wasn't joking. she wasn't too friendly or happy either. i walked out of the ER and told her i would rather be sick than wait 5 hours. i called my wonderful dr and they had never heard of a 5 hour wait before and said i couldn't wait 5 hours. then all of the sudden, on floor 2 (labor & delivery), there were smiling faces waiting to see me with a warm bed and a wonderful IV of fluids/drugs. it changed my whole attitude towards having to be there :) john got to watch espn. even better.
it really was a great week...in the end :) loved having my mamma here! i told her she could stay, but i think she needed someplace to plant her car full of flowers. she really did have a car full. her bags sat shotgun on the way home :)

bye bye hazie!
oh hazel...you were my first post on this blog. so sweet and tiny. now, it is time for you to have other 4 legged friends that are also 5lbs.
although you won't understand what i am saying...tomorrow we are meeting a nice girl named sami who has 2 cats and they want another friend. you will be perfect for them! how can they not love that black spot on your nose :)
you were so loved, but we are moving on now. bye bye hazie!!

shopping...not fun...woah...?!?!
wemt shopping for a pair of jeans today that would fit me and prunie (almost lime). shopping isn't so much fun anymore...i had to ask at every store where the maternity section was...sad day! i am used to the racks and racks of cute and colorful shirts, pants, skirts. i am in uncharted territory and do not prefer to wear stripes and v-necks with a little scrunchie below the ever-growing milk makers!
then i had about 2 pairs of jeans to choose from....really... none of them had cute designs on the pockets. guess i was comparing them to joe's or sevens...my daily fav's...target just doesn't make the cut.
where in the world do i find jeans that are not $100?!?! there are several great looking online places, but i can't really try them on...that's a problem.
however, i do love my sweats and my bazillion pairs of capris that have the folder over waist :)
off to bigger and better things...literally bigger...as big as BP needs (biscuit palmer).
oh and i do love my palmer's cocoa butter lotion. wonderful name. wonderful smell.

growing.
hola all! so our lives are continually growing. we grow up, get married, get a cat, buy a house, get a dog....then what?!?! the progression of life can all be explained by fruits (mostly)...which are also healthy! mustard seed - blueberry - cherry - prune...
10.5 weeks down...more to come!
I kind of struggle with this whole adding pictures thing...i need to figure that out.
